Free GP exercise referral and behaviour change programme for inactive adults in Broxbourne and surrounding areas managed by Broxbourne Borough Council.
Active Herts is a free physical activity behaviour change programme now delivered locally in Broxbourne, having originally launched across Broxbourne, Hertsmere, Stevenage and Watford between 2015 and 2018. Trained Get Active Specialists provide a one to one consultation followed by a six week introductory programme and ongoing classes. Subsidised gym memberships are available for residents on benefits. Healthcare professionals can refer in. The project is funded by Sport England, the National Lottery, NHS and Hertfordshire County Council.

Who they help: Adults living with diabetes, cardiovascular risk, anxiety, depression, musculoskeletal conditions
Eligibility: Inactive adults aged 16+ (doing less than 30 minutes activity per week) living in Broxbourne, Hertsmere or Watford with a long-term condition or risk factor.
Area covered: Broxbourne
Not suitable for: Active Herts is currently delivered in Broxbourne, Hertsmere and Watford. People in Stevenage or East Herts should use the Everyone Active GP Exercise Referral Scheme or local Healthy Hub.
