Newham's leisure trust running three leisure centres and one of the country's biggest community sports programmes.
activeNewham is the boroughs leisure trust, working with Newham Council since 2013. It runs Atherton, East Ham and Newham Leisure Centres and delivers a large community sport and physical activity programme covering swimming, gym, group classes, walking groups and GP referral schemes. Swimming is free for Newham residents under 16 and over 60, except for special fun swim sessions, and concessionary rates are available to people on Income Support, Housing Benefit, Carers Allowance and other qualifying benefits.
