Chapeltown-based community engagement charity tackling health inequalities for African, African Caribbean and other minority communities.
Established in 1988, Black Health Initiative works to challenge inequalities in health, education and social care affecting African, African Caribbean, dual heritage and other minority ethnic communities in Leeds. It offers free and confidential culturally informed counselling for adults and young people aged 13 and over, available in person, online or by phone. BHI also runs the Fusion Extra Wednesday lunch club for over 50s with food, exercise, socialising and conversations about health and dementia.
