Pioneer of social prescribing — free advice on welfare, housing, debt and immigration, plus wellbeing, learning and community activities.
Bromley by Bow Centre, the original home of UK social prescribing, supports around 16,000 people across East London from its St Leonards Street welcome hub. Free services include social prescribing, mental health Community Connectors, healthy lifestyle programmes for older people, job search and training, business start-up advice, ESOL, family services, and creative skills courses. Open Monday to Friday, with a shorter Thursday. As of March 2026 the centre operates in partnership with Family Action.
