Local charity providing lifelong learning, social activities (Gateway Club) and respite for people with learning disabilities and their families across Mid Essex.
City of Chelmsford Mencap is an independent local charity supporting people affected by learning disability across mid Essex from the Mencap Centre at 56 Mildmay Road. Its Outreach Academy provides lifelong learning weekdays for adults aged 19+, with sessions in cooking, dance, yoga, functional skills, social enterprise and ACE (Active in the Community and Environment). The Gateway Club for adults 19+ runs Thursdays 7-9pm with arts, sports and trips, while Gateway Juniors offers a weekly youth club for 16-25s. Contact 01245 268303 to find out more.
