Volunteer-run charity in Derby giving practical and emotional support to asylum seekers and refugees, with advice sessions, classes and food.
Derby Refugee Advice Centre, set up in 2002, supports asylum seekers and refugees living in Derby. The volunteer team runs advice sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Centre on Curzon Street, with one-to-one help on immigration paperwork, benefits, housing and health. They also run English and maths classes, creative workshops, trips and a small food bank for people facing destitution. People can drop in or be referred by other agencies.
