Family Gateway is a multi award-winning North Tyneside charity that supports families with complex lives to improve their childrens life chances. Established in 2011, the team employs local parents with lived experience of issues like homelessness, domestic abuse and poverty, using a Barefoot Professional model. They work across North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Northumberland in areas of highest deprivation, including a Howdon Community Hub with cafe, parenting groups, money advice and access to early help services.
