Forces Friends (Age UK Notts)
Social Connection & Community · Charity · Nottinghamshire
Befriending service for socially isolated military veterans aged 60+ and their dependants across Nottinghamshire.
Forces Friends is delivered by Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in partnership with The Royal British Legion and provides one-to-one short-term support to lonely or socially isolated military veterans aged 60 plus and their dependants living in Nottinghamshire. Trained volunteers, often with their own forces connections, are carefully matched so friendships build naturally through regular home visits and outings. The project was originally seeded by a Royal British Legion grant of over 37,000 pounds and won the Forces in Mind Trust sponsored Working Together Award at the Soldiering On national awards.
