Keech Hospice Care provides free specialist end-of-life and palliative care for adults across Bedfordshire and for children and families across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes. Last year the team cared for 2,242 people; daily running costs are around £26,000 and Keech saves the NHS an estimated £6.5 million each year. Services run from the Luton Wellbeing Centre, the Bedford Living Well Centre, hospital and home. Programmes include 24-hour support, Compassionate Neighbours, therapies, inpatient stays and bereavement support; 70% of funding comes from community supporters.
