LASSN (Leeds Asylum Seekers Support Network)
Social Connection & Community · Charity · Leeds (citywide)
Volunteer-led charity supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Leeds with befriending, English tuition and emergency accommodation.
LASSN was founded in 1999 to respond to the needs of refugees and asylum seekers in Leeds, particularly those facing isolation, poor mental health and uncertainty over their asylum claim. Over 300 volunteers help around 400 people each year with one-to-one befriending, group activities, in-home English tuition for those who cannot reach classes, free phone top-ups, and emergency hosting and accommodation through the Hosting and Housing scheme.
