North East charity supporting prisoners families with court support, visits, telephone befriending and young peoples programmes.
Nepacs is a North East charity supporting people affected by the criminal justice or care systems, including the families of prisoners and people in court. Volunteers run support desks at Durham, Newcastle and Teesside Crown Courts, comforting and informing families facing custodial sentences. Visitor centres and tea bars operate at every North East prison, and a telephone befriending service tackles isolation. A dedicated team supports young people aged 8 to 17 affected by parental imprisonment with one-to-one work and activity sessions.
