The NHS Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) provides assessment and treatment for people with recently occurring minor eye problems by accredited optometrists in the community. Conditions covered include red eye, eye discomfort, sudden change in vision, flashes and floaters, dry or watery eyes and foreign bodies. No GP appointment needed. Available at participating optometrists across Essex. Free to eligible patients.
