Open Road SOS Bus Colchester
Safety & Abuse Support · Charity/Voluntary Organisation · Colchester
Volunteer-run safe haven in Colchester High Street every Friday and Saturday night, supporting vulnerable people in the night-time economy.
The Colchester SOS Bus and support mini-bus are stationed in Colchester High Street every Friday and Saturday night throughout the year, celebrating their tenth anniversary in 2018. Run by Open Road since 2008, the specially-adapted buses are staffed by trained volunteers and offer medical cover via Remote Medic UK paramedics and doctors. The team helps vulnerable people in the night-time economy, treats minor injuries and works with street pastors, police, ambulance and A&E to keep emergency calls down. A separate SOS Bus also runs in Chelmsford.
