SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen's Families Association), founded in 1885, is the UK's oldest national tri-service Armed Forces charity. It supports serving personnel, veterans and their families. The free and confidential Forcesline helpline (0800 260 6780, Mon-Thu 9am-5pm, Fri 9am-4pm) and live chat provide a listening ear for those feeling lonely, isolated or struggling to cope. SSAFA also runs a UK-wide branch network delivering casework, mentoring and family support.
