Step by Step – Essex Domestic Abuse Support (Barnardo's)
Safety & Abuse Support · Charity/Voluntary Organisation · Essex, Southend & Thurrock
Free, confidential support from Barnardo's for anyone in Essex, Southend or Thurrock who is worried that a friend, relative or neighbour may be experiencing domestic abuse — with guidance on the warning signs, safe conversations, safety planning and next steps.
Step by Step (the Essex DA Project — "Supporting You, Support Them") is a free service run by the children's charity Barnardo's in partnership with the Greater Essex authorities. It is for anyone who is worried that someone they know — a friend, relative, neighbour or colleague — may be experiencing an unhealthy relationship or domestic abuse. The service offers information and advice on how to recognise the warning signs, how to have a safe conversation, how to support with safety planning, and where to turn next. It also runs talks for community groups and organisations. Support is available across Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock. This is not an emergency service — if someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
