Community transport and befriending charity covering West Suffolk towns and villages including Newmarket, Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds.
The Voluntary Network has run community transport and befriending since 2000 across West Suffolk and parts of Cambridgeshire. Alongside its Connecting Communities transport scheme for those who cannot use regular buses, the team organise local social activities in the Brandon and Mildenhall areas, a pen pal project and lunch gatherings to reduce isolation. Who it's for
Who they help: Isolated older people, people with limited mobility or dementia, and anyone unable to use ordinary buses.
Eligibility: People in West Suffolk and surrounding Cambridgeshire who need community transport, or people aged 60+ for befriending.
Area covered: West Suffolk
Not suitable for: The befriending service is only for people aged 60 or over. Transport is only available in West Suffolk and nearby Cambridgeshire villages.
