BAME-led community organisation supporting Chinese, Somali, South Asian and migrant communities in Manchester with health, family, mental health and integration services.
Wai Yin Society, founded by Chinese women in 1988, has grown into one of the largest BME community centres in the UK serving over a thousand people each week from 63 nationalities. Programmes include the Kwan Wai mental health service, older peoples day care, domestic violence and human trafficking support, English language and digital skills classes, family learning, youth projects and cancer awareness. Three Manchester centres (Swan Street, Ardwick, Cheetham Hill) deliver culturally sensitive support in Cantonese, Mandarin, Urdu, Somali, Bengali and other languages.
