West End Refugee Service (WERS)
Social Connection & Community · Charity · Newcastle - West End
Information, advice, advocacy and community activities for asylum seekers and refugees in Newcastle and the North East.
WERS is a Newcastle charity supporting people seeking asylum and refugees across the North East since 1999. They run drop-in sessions Monday to Wednesday offering information, advice and advocacy on housing, benefits, health and legal issues. The team distributes food, toiletries and essentials, and runs community activities including pottery, yoga, cooking, gardening, walk-and-talk groups and weekly welcome meals. Their SkillsMatch programme matches client skills with volunteering opportunities to build confidence and pathways into work.
